15 in. wide R-19 roll for 16 in. o.c. 2×6 wall production with minimal edge waste

Key features
39 ft 2 in. developed length supports long runs with fewer cross joints than short batts
Next Gen fiber feel, compression packaging, and distributor-documented 48.96 sq ft coverage
Technical specifications
| R-Value | 19.0 |
|---|---|
| Thickness | 6.25 in |
| Width | 15.0 in |
| Length | 470.0 in |
| Coverage | 48.96 sq ft/pack |
| Material | Fiberglass (PINK Next Gen) with kraft vapor-retarder facing |
| Fire rating | ASTM C665 Type I; glass fibers ASTM E136 noncombustible when unfaced. Kraft facing is combustible—install per OC facing exposure rules. |
| Sound rating | Cavity-fill fiberglass improves typical wall STC versus an empty cavity; final acoustic performance is assembly-dependent. |
| Density | Light-density flexible blanket insulation per ASTM C665 manufacturer listings |
| Thermal conductivity | Nominal R-19 at full labeled thickness; see manufacturer TDS for tested values |
| Framing width | 15 in. wide roll aligned with nominal 16 in. on-center 2×6 stud spacing |
| Construction type | Wood-frame and light-gauge metal-frame cavity construction |
| Application area | Wood-framed walls, floors, and roof/ceilings; metal-framed walls and floors; interior side of basement and unvented crawlspace walls where approved by code |
Product details
About 48.96 square feet per roll (IDI-listed coverage for RF40). Primary use: wood- or metal-framed wall, floor, and roof/ceiling cavities where a 15 in. wide R-19 roll matches 16 in. on-center framing and you want kraft-assisted vapor retardance in climate zones that call for interior-side retarders.
Compared to full-bay-width rolls, the 15 in. width targets the classic 2×6, 16 in. o.c. module: you are not forcing a 23 in. blanket through a 14-1/2 in. opening or leaving oversized ears that compress against plates. The 39 ft 2 in. developed length (470 in.) still behaves like a roll on the rack—plan staging, cutting, and wind so the facing stays clean and unwrinkled before it is encapsulated.
Owens Corning’s published line attributes for PINK Next Gen include ASTM C665 manufacturing, Title 24 Article 3 alignment for insulating materials in California, GREENGUARD certification with formaldehyde-free validation, and a UL Environment EPD. Kraft- and foil-faced variants are listed for ICC construction types III–V (unfaced spans I–V).
Installation quality still hinges on full-thickness recovery, continuous alignment with the air barrier, and keeping kraft facing out of exposed conditions—it is combustible and must be covered per manufacturer instructions. Use the RF40 technical data sheet and installation guide for fastening, clearance around fixtures, and prescriptive references.
